Hi, Firends!

I'm just curious if you will learn some basic Chinese before or after you come to China, and which words/sentences do you think more useful and necessary to learn? Can you give some examples?

When I was in Beijing I tried to speak Chinese as much I could. But it was very hard, couple Chinese youth tried to make me speak the language but I could only speak the short words like how much that is, I don't want, too bad, hello and so on. When I tried to say for example some Japanese restaurant name, I said it so wrong that it meant something bad (I don't know what it meant). But when I come back to China in July I try to speak some Chinese again. And I hope it wouldn't be so pathetic :)
