Hainan Island to relax duty-free policy from November 1, 2012

guest3411 On April 20, 2011, duty-free policy was formally implemented in Hainan Island. Non-Hainan Island visitors can get tax rebates with a purchase limit of CNY 5000. Recently, the Ministry of Finance has announced that the duty-free policy will be relaxed.

No.1 The purchase limit for duty-free commodities will be raised from CNY 5000 to CNY 8000.

No.2 Visitors can buy more kinds of duty-free commodities. Health and beauty products, tableware, kitchenware and toys (including children’s bicycle) are included. In all, tourists can buy 21 kinds of duty-free commodities.

No.3 Age restriction is relaxed from 18 to 16. Before only visitors who reach 18 can enjoy tax rebates.
