guestGene I need some info. Due to my job I am unable to go to China to meet my future wife. Can she come to America on a visit and make the engagement legal and to get the required proof. Then return to China. Then get the required paper work.

I guess that she needs to appy for a tourist visa and then go to the US. She is not your fiancee so that she can't apply for a fiancee visa. But it is difficult for a Chinese to apply for a visa to the US.

Well, it is easy for you to come to China. If you have time, you can come to China to make your engagement. I can't understand why she has to go to the US to do the engagement.

GUEST17115 Theoretically, possible though a long shot.
Realistically, no way.

If you don't go to China at least twice, the US consulate in Guangzhou will determine that this relationship is not true, no matter what you will argue.

If you want to successfully bring your girl friend over, you must follow the proven roads. Search on line and start reading other folks' experiences.

GUEST95106 Because of the risk of "marriage of convenience" most western governments are not enthusiastic in providing visas for single females. Most would require proof that she will return before the visa expires such as:

Substantial funds in a Chinese bank account
Owns property in China
Has a secure job in China with a letter from the company.
