Passengers with Public Transportation Cards can enjoy 30% discount when using subway in Xian

However, the preferential policy for students, the elderly and the disabled hasn’t changed. Students from middle and primary schools can enjoy 50 percent discount. The elderly over seventies can use the subway for free during off-peak time. The disabled with their valid certificates of disability can use the subway for free at any time. Currently, Xian has subway line 2 in operation. In September, 2013, subway line 1 will be put into use. The first phase of subway line 3 (Yuhuazhai – Baoshuiqu) and test section of subway line 4 (Wulukou – Houcun) are under construction. It is estimated that subway line 3 Phase I will be put into use in September, 2015.
