guestYLM Hi Chinese food fans, I'm studying English at an University in Hong Kong and doin' project on English translation of Chinese food names. I would like to collect a few opinion for my research, here are the questions.

1. Have you ever heard of
a) century egg
b) charn siu
c) stinky tofu
d) Caterpillar Fungus Duck ?

2. Have you ever tried 1,2,3,or 4?

-if yes , please go to Q3.

-if no , please go to Q4.

3. If yes,

-(i) Do you think the names can precisely describe the dish?

-(ii) Can you suggest an alternative translation for the food names mentioned above?

4.If no, are you interested in trying it? Why and why not?

Thanks so much

YLM,

I have heard both century egg and stinky tofu. Also I tasted them both. In my view, they are tasty. Century egg is also translated as preserved egg. Stinky tofu is good because it does smell stinky.
