I plan to marry in China. I have my Passport, Michigan Birth record, and Michigan No Marriage document. I will need these documents to marry in China. I think that I still need to send the documents to the China Consulate in Chicago. The China Consulate can do the authentication of the documents. I think that the documents will need to be translated from English to Chinese. Do you know when or where I can get the translations?

GUEST44343 It is said that your documents have to be translated and stamped by the translation organization. Someone says you can go to Chinese local civil affairs office and they will recommend you a translation organization to do it for you. Or you can ask the Chinese consulate for recommendation.

Check this page and see if you can get some useful information: http://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/marriage-registration.htm

GUEST24212 Fred,
You can find certified translators in most major cities in China. Their translations will be accepted by everybody concerned, including the US consulate in Guangzhou.

GUEST24151 I got mine done in China. My wife knew of the place to have them translated. It did not cost much. My problem was getting the proof of being single paperwork. That took much searching. I had to send my divorce papers to the secretary of state of the state I was living in, then I found a company online who sent those papers to the secretary of the united states to be signed and then to the Chinese consulate in Washington DC. I took those papers to the US Consulate in Guangzhou where I got the single prove paperwork. I also needed my passport and my wife's id. Getting the company online to send the paperwork to Washington DC was cheaper than flying there plus hotel. It cost a few hundred.
