I have been working in Shenzhen since 1998, that time I was not a translator or interpreter that time, I worked as an international purchaser. At that time, there was a financial crisis in USA and in China also have a big crisis, people scared and throw their houses. At that time, the price is very reasonable for normal people. And the time I started to worked as a freelance interpreter in Shenzhen. That time the estate price is around 2000USD per square meter and that time was 2010 and the CPI was almost go to 5%. That was killing people. And now at the end of 2012, the estate price is going to more than 3000USD per square meter now. I have been working very hard since I came in Shenzhen, but every year I only can provide the first 30% of the house and I don’t know if I want to buy it or not, because if I bought it and if I rent it out , I only can get 2% back. That means If I put the money into the bank and I can get like 3.5%-5%. That means I lost money and this is not reasonable price. However, if the price of the estate growing every year, that means my cash is very dangerous. So I am very confused right now.

GUEST24212 Generally, the more risky the investment, the higher the return.

But in reality, it sometimes doesn't work like this.

Real estate is a good investment, in the right location and in the right time. Otherwise it can turn into a bad investment. Nobody knows the future, and if the price went up from 2000 to 3000 in 2-3 years, I'm afraid that it looks like a bubble that might burst someday.

Look at the US real estate market, study it, the ups and downs, and draw your own conclusions.

Maybe you should contact a local financial planner, someone trustworthy, for advice. But remember, a planner has his own agenda, and if he loses your money he feels no pain.
