GUESTFIONA Hi, it is very complicated to get Chinese permanent residency. But if you got married with a Chinese in China, you are able to apply for a family visit visa with longer duration. If you work in China, then a Z visa will be enough.

GUEST17345 Very few people are granted permanent residence unless they are rich. You should get a family visa with 12 month duration initially. Later it can be 24 months. You cannot legally work with qualifying for a Z visa.

After 5 years of living in China with your spouse you can (or will soon) be able to apply for permanent residency with a permit to work.
