| Winter Solstice falls on December 21st this year, when the daytime is the shortest and the night time is the longest of the whole year in China. It is one of the 24 solar terms in Chinese lunar calendar as well as a traditional Chinese festival. On this day, people in northern China will eat dumplings and those in southern China will eat tangyuan (a rice ball stuffed with different fillings) for celebration.
