CHRISDAE Points: Join Date: Jun 2, 2009 Status: offline	Planning to go to Laos at the end of January 2013 from China. Which is the best way to enter Laos? I heard the Kunming-Laos route is very long. What do you think? Is it better to go to Hanoi first then to Laos? I don't want o fly as I'm not in a hurry and I'm just killing time as we don't have classes. Any info is much appreciated, thanks.

I read a girl's journal on the internet. She took the long distance bus from Hanoi to Vientiane. It took her at least 22 hours. The long distance bus was worse. They charge foreigners more money and menaced them to pay them tips. This girl was arranged to rest at the rear part of the bus. According to her, the foreigners are usually arranged to take the back seats and pay more money. The long distance bus is used to transport passengers and goods together.

There is a long distance bus from Kunming Nanbu Passenger Transport Center(昆明南部客运站). It departs at 18:00 every day. The whole journey is 1421 kilometers. The ticket is CNY 587.

If you can not bear the long journey, better use a flight from Kunming to Laos.
