Do I need a single or dual Entry
Jan 30, 2013 17:01
guest71102 Good morning everyone. I intend to travel from Melbourne to Los Angeles via Beijing, where I will be staying for 2 days then on to Los Angeles. En route from Melbourne, the plane stops at Shanghai for 1 hour then on to Beijing. Do I qualify for the new 72 hour visa? If not, do I need a single or dual entry visa for this trip. Thanks.

GUEST5462 You are an American, right? You needn't apply for a visa but have to apply for the stay permit when you arrive at Shanghai.

For enquires, visitors may also call at 0086-10-56095400 if you plan to transit through Beijing International Airport, or 0086-21-51105100 if you plan to transit through Shanghai Pudong or Hongqiao Airport.

GUEST71102 Hi Guest5462,
No, I'm Australian, but probably of no difference for this exercise. I will land in Shanghai first, but only for 1 hour. Is this enough time to organize a stay permit?
I'd hate to arrive in Beijing without a permit and find out they won't let me stay.

Thanks.

GUEST5462 According to the rule, you have to apply for a stay permit. I suggest you call the airport and listen what they say. They are the guy who decides whether you can stay or not.
