Khunjerab pass into China for USA citizen

My son and I would like to travel the Karakoram highway from Pakistan into China oner Khunjerab pass. Do we get Visa prior to getting there? What permits do we need?

You both are citizens of the USA? The USA citizens have to get their visas ready before entering China. I suggest you apply your visa and then travel to China.
