Hi, I will be traveling to Hong Kong around the last 2 weeks in May 2013. I am a U.S. citizen. I would really love to fit in a trip to the Great Wall and the Terracotta Museum.

1. Would spending 2 or 3 nights in Beijing be good enough to visit these 2 places?
2. How far apart is the Museum and the Great Wall? What is the mode of transport between these 2 locations?
3. How much and how long is the flight from HK to Beijing?
3. Will I need a Visa? I know I don't need one for HK.

GUESTJEFF Hi KSITT, the Great wall you are refering to is in Beijing, but Terracotta Museum is in Xian if you mean Museum of Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses. You can take flight or high-speed rail between Beijng and Xian. If you plan to leave also from Beijing, here you are suggested to fly from HK to Xian directly and visit the Terracotta Museum within one day, then take train or flight to Beijing. The flight takes 2 hours, and it takes about 5 hours by high-speed rail. Anyway, the flight from HK to Beijing takes about 3 hours.
3 nights is enough if you just visit these two place, but you'd better book the tickets in advance.
You need to apply for a Chinese tourist visa in advance for this trip.
