This link has free homestays in china, good for students who want free rent. I wasnt so impressed by the site but the people had lots of information. www.freewebs.com/chinahomestay/index.htm

In the past May holidays I tried some "free homestay" which had ads on several forums and... it wasn't quite the same as I thought it would be... It was not even either free or homestay...
There is no free lunch. At least I havent had any.
Real nice people? Hhhhmmmmm...

yeah your right its not totally fee, theres a 160$ placment charge for 6 months. They pick u up from the airport for that too. But that was it, I found there new website www.chinahomestay.org , anyways make your own opinion.
