Business visa or tourist visa
Apr 3, 2013 14:10
Hi, I'm booked to fly to china I a few weeks time for business. I need to apply for a visa, I have been told it must be a business visa for a business trip. However To apply for a business visa I am told I need a invite from a company in china. I have ask the company to send me the invite and they are happy to do so. The problem I have is that I am flying out on 21st April and I have been told by the company who is sending he invite that I will receive the invite by the 18th. This won't leav m enough time to obtain a visa.
The questions I have are. Can I apply for the business visa when I get to china?

Or

As I have already booked the flights an hotel, shall I apply or a tourist visa?

If I obtain a tourist visa will I have any problems attending the canton fair or doing business?

I'm going to china from the UK.

Please help me, thanks in advance.

Hi James,

It's ok to use tourist visa, see below

2. What can happen if I am holding a different type of Visa (Tourist, Student, etc.)?
As mentioned earlier, it would be better to have a Business Visa. But if you are already in China under a different type of Visa other than a Business one, you can still use this to enter the Fair. There is no big deal.

And this might also help http://gohongkong.about.com/od/traveltochina/a/Canton-Fair-Guide.htm
