Marriage in China
May 21, 2013 05:31
guest52190 Tried unsuccessfully on 4 occasions to attain a Visa for my Chinese Girlfriend. We have been together for 10 years, in which time I met her Family and have visited China on 5 occasions.
The only way forward I believe is to get married in China and then hopefully she can enter the UK and visit my extended Family.
Does anyone know if this is feasible ?

GUEST8445 Well, you can get married in her hometown and then bring her back to your country.

GUEST20101 UK is clamping down on issuing visas to single men/women because of the marriage of convenience business. To get a visa she would need to provide proof that she is likely to return to her home country. This includes;

A substantial amount (several thousand GBP) in a Chinese bank account for a reasonable period. (not a quick deposit)
An employers letter stating her job remains open.
Ownership of property.

If you marry and wish to take her back to the UK this can take several months and you need to prove that you have a "real" relationship. Collect evidence in advance such as photos together, email/chat records, letter from friends or relatives, hotel/living expense receipts etc.

There is a very useful non commercial UK forum for westerners with Chinese wives/gf's. Most members are from UK, Europe and Australia and are more than willing to offer help, guidance and their experiences. http://nanninginfosite.editboard.com/
