What do you think of Chinese tourists?

A Chinese student left his precious autograph on a wall inside the Temple of Luxor when he traveled in Egypt. Another man who visited the temple saw the autograph, took a picture and posted it on Weibo. Thanks to him, more and more Chinese people have seen that student’s autograph. None of them praise how good the autograph is. Instead, they condemn his inappropriate behavior strongly. At last, the parents of the student stood made a public apology for their son’s behavior on a Chinese newspaper.

Can their apology make up the damage caused in the temple? Definitely not, though the autograph has been removed. Some people who saw the autograph doubt it is the student’s parents who helped their son leave his autograph on the wall. Why? The position of the autograph is so high that a student in junior school can’t make it possible to write his autograph there.

What this boy did is just a series of inappropriate behaviors what Chinese tourist do when they travel abroad. According to People’s Daily, a hotel in Russia sent a letter of complaint to a Chinese travel agency, complaining about Chinese tourists’ bad behavior. According to the hotel, they prepared 3 eggs for each of the 40 guests who lodged at their hotel as breakfast. Before the breakfast was done, another 80 eggs were added. Why? Some Chinese tourists put eggs in their pocket and brought them away. The hotel didn’t want it happen again so that they set a new rule for the Chinese tourists that they have to take off their clothes before having the breakfast.

Look at what they have done abroad. As a Chinese, I feel ashamed for them.

A foreign tour guide has summed up “Chinese Tourists’ Ten Sins”.

No.1 Chinese people are lack of the ability to perceive foreign cultures. It’s not because their English is too poor to understand what the tour guides said, but because they are unwilling to listen to the tour guide’s explanation. When they come to the British Museum, they just care about where they can find porcelain wares made in China. When they come to Palais du Louvre, they do their best to find Zhang Daqian and Qi Baishi (both are two famous Chinese painters). They are unwilling to understand other countries’ cultures.

No.2 All tour guides must pay attention to three bad behaviors made by Chinese tourists when they come to visit a museum.
1.Warn them not to take pictures when the flashlight is on.
2.Warn them not to touch the exhibits.
3.Tell them not to spend too much time taking pictures in front of world famous and precious exhibits. Otherwise, other visitors can’t see the exhibits.
4.
No.3 Chinese tourists care about money very much. When you take them to the British Museum, they argue a lot on how much the exhibit values. Some of them even carry the auction materials.

No.4 Chinese tourists love taking pictures. Wherever they arrive, they take pictures as they wish. They never ask permission from a local person when taking a picture for him.

No.5 Chinese tourists take pictures not only for the locals but also for themselves. When you introduce local culture to them, they don’t listen but start to talk about their 5000 years’ history. When you bring them to visit the classic relics in Europe and Middle East, they are busy taking pictures. When they get tired of taking pictures, they start to play cards. Everyone just takes pictures to prove that they have been here. Most Chinese tourists have little knowledge about the western religion. It’s too difficult for them to understand religious culture in Italy, let alone well-known works made by Leonardo da Vinci’s and Michelangelo.

No.6 Chinese people neglect local laws and rules when they are abroad. In fact, they don’t obey their own laws and rules. An American tour guide told me about his unforgettable experience in Zhangjiajie. He saw a Chinese stepped over the railings to shoot photos so that he told the man it was not allowed to step over the railings. He didn’t realize that he made a big mistake. That man followed him, suddenly punched his back and then ran away.

No.7 Talking about flight delays, Chinese tourists behave so differently compared with others. Americans complain a little but care about what the solution is. They wait quietly and calmly even they get no answer. Chinese tourists prefer to ask how much compensation they can get.

No.8. Chinese tourists seem to get rid of their bad habit of spitting. It’s good. But they still have many bad habits, such as taking off their shoes and putting their feet on the bench to eat snacks, sneezing without covering their noses and letting their kids pee anywhere they like.

No.9 Chinese tourists are very generous when they buy luxurious things but stingy when they give tips.

No.10 China has a long history but its people are too young to behave politely in a civilized manner.
