GUEST6993 Bach,

According to the law, you needn't apply for the G visa since you just transit less than 24 hours in China. You just need to apply for a stay permit. As I know, your passport will be added a stamp when you pass the immigration checkpoint. The stamp is the stay permit you get.

However, I heard a guy from France said that he was refused to get the stay permit though he met all the requirements. Thus, I think people from certain countries can't get the stay permit.

If you are worried about it, you may apply for the G visa in advance.
