Extending an F visa, then switching to X visa
Jun 13, 2013 05:26
guest94246 I recently won a trip for a summer camp in China from the 20th of July to the 1st of August. I've also organised an exchange to Beijing University of Technology, with study commencing on the 1st of September. There is a month in between that I would like to remain in Beijing, instead of flying to and from Australia and wasting money on flights.

The summer camp is on an F visa and the exchange is on an X visa (and then I will apply for a temporary residence permit for the duration of my year's exchange). Am I able to extend my F visa until my X visa comes into effect? Will I have to leave China and then re-enter? Should I apply for both visas now, in Australia? Is there anything else I should know?

Thank you so much in advance for any help you can give me.

GUESTY7785 Your F type can be extended at the local police station. However, you can not have two Chinese visas at the same time. It means that you need to apply your X type abroad after your F type expires.
