| guest91072 | I have been hearing that you will need a police check to get a work visa for china but I cannot find anything online about it. Is it true? how about if you have not been living in your home country ( I am from Canada) for several years? I actually live in China now but am returning home and applying for a new visa this summer. |

| GUEST4455 | GUEST91072, I have heard that new regulations on visa policies will come into effect from July 1. Some other people also said that police clearance will be needed when applying for Z visa. Since you live in China for years, you should contact the local police station. They can give the police clearance. |

| GUESTEVAINCH... | I'm also Canadian. I couldn't get through by phone to the canadian embassy to ask what the f* to do about the criminal check.. so I went over there and only then did the girl at reception understand what I needed and gave me a business card. The number you want to call for the canadian embassy is: 5139-4440. Secondly, I found out from them that i need to go to forensic institute and have someone to help in chinese to get fingerprints done there, THEN i need to translate it and notarize it. After that I need to go back to Canadian embassy and get a certification of all my documents. Then i need to send it all to RCMP (royal canadian mounted police) in Canada and... wait... wait.. for 5 months to get a result!! I also have live here for about 2 years (yeah no chinese yet) and was sure this is some stupid regulation. So i searched. I'm sure some other companies do it, but these guys spoke perfect english and came to my home to pick up my documents and after 800rmb, voila! The agency is called chinavalid and their website is at www.chinavalid.com. It took about a week and my visa is officially submitted. Hope you don't go the long route i was gonna take.
