Native speakers help needed! Asking for blessing for marriage in chinese
Aug 7, 2013 06:14
guest38111 I am wanting to propose to my partner in a few weeks, and I want to ask her mother for her blessing to do so, and I want to do it in Mandarin Chinese so that she can see how serious I am about this...but I barely speak any chinese. Any native speakers willing to help teach me how to ask?

GUEST38111,

You may say "A Yi, Wo Xiang Qu Nin De Nv Er Wei Qi. Wo Bao Zheng Wo Yi Hou Hui Dui Ta Hao. Wo Ken Qing Nin Da Ying." It means "Aunt, I am going to marry your daughter. I promise I will do my best to take care of her. I hope that you can allow me to marry your daughter."

By the way, don't forget to bring some gifts when you visit you girlfriend's parents.
