In India, the girls’ parents have to provide as many dowries as they can. The wealthier the girl’s family is, the more dowries the groom asks for. Once the groom can’t get enough dowries from the girl, he will torture or even kill his wife. Each year, thousands of young Indian women are burnt with gasoline because the groom or his family think the dowry was inadequate. Therefore, many women choose sex appraisal when they are pregnant. According to a medical research, around 10 million baby girls had been aborted in last two decades. Like Chinese people, Indians prefer to raise boys rather than girls. When boys become men, they can support their parents. If they have girls, they have to accumulate as much money as they can to prepare dowry for her. It’s money-losing business. In the Indian families, if the first-born is a baby girl, she will have her chance to live. If the second-born is still a baby girl, she will have small chance to live. If the third-born is a baby girl again, she will have very slight chance to live.
