I currently have a cateogry M Visa and it will expires on January. ( 3 month)
I was not able to apply for a multi-entry therefore I have a single entry.
However, I have to leave China in the middle of November and come back in December. Is it possible to attain another visa even when my previous one has not expired? If not, I can only apply for the new visa after January?

GUEST6580 Since yours is a single entry one, it will automatically expires after you leave China. I don't know where you will go to. If you go to HK, you might ask the CTS branch to apply one for you.

single entry visa will expire when you left china.
I give you suggestion that

If you stay less 30days once you entry
--you can make F multy visa for 60days,1year .
invitation we can provide you.
it have to got from outside mainland.

If you stay over than 30days once you entry
--You need to make the residence permit for 1year.
it is also can multry entry to china and you can stay till it expired.
it can be made at mainland and dont need to outside mainland.
