I am back from my trip in Suzhou and Shanghai. It was an interesting trip except for the heavy fog and haze in Shanghai. You couldn’t imagine how serious the fog and haze was. We stood at the bund and couldn’t see the Oriental Pearl TV Tower on the other side of the Huangpu River.

The PM 2.5 index showed that the air was severely polluted in Shanghai (the index was nearly 300). My friends and I went to the drugstore to buy breathing masks. We were scared by the long queue inside the drugstore. They also waited for buying breathing masks.

Nanjing and other cities in southern China have been attacked by the fog and haze. It is reported that schools have been closed temporarily due to the heavy fog and haze.
