‘Certificate of No Impediment’ Panic!!!!
Dec 28, 2013 10:36
Hi all,

Myself and my Chinese Girlfriend have decided to marry in China and the wedding has been set for Mid February 2014. All good so far....

However, I have just found out I need a ‘Certificate of No Impediment’. I have never heard of this before and it is causing me a real headache. I have about 40 days to do the whole thing but I am beginning to think that this will not be enough time.

If anyone could direct me to an online UK agency who can help me sort this all out, it would (at the very least) save me from the wrath of my loved one's parents!

Merry christmas and many thanks

Hi,
Many thanks.

I have contacted the Chinese embassy in the UK to ask for the procedure and how it could be done post haste and I have written to the British embassy Consulate in Beijing to see if I can notarise and translate the daft document when I arrive in China or soon after. I will have to wait for a reply from them which they say can take up to 3 weeks. :(

I read a thread of a guy who had used an agency who got the whole process (minus the initial application) of the document in the UK done in 8 days. That would be pretty tight but spot on. Unfortunately he never said how or where the process could be found and the thread is 2 years old.
