L Visa extensions?

guest20101 Since the changes in Visa regulations came into force last year is it still possible to extend an L visa at the PSB? (ie 30 day visa extened by 30 days twice without leaving China).

I realise different provinces interpret rules and regulations differently. This would be for Guangzhou.

GUEST8845 If you already know that different places interpret rules differently, why not ask the Guangzhou PSB directly? I think L type can be extended in Guangzhou. You can extend it two times at most but the officers finally decide whether you can extend it one time or two times. So please go to the PSB directly and ask them how they enforce the regulations.

GUEST20101 I know it was possible, but I am not in GZ right now to check. I was hoping someone on this forum might have applied recently. I know it was possible in Shanghai, but a friend was recently refused an extension there.

There does not seem to be a clear guideline on this anymore. It used to be very clear with being able to extend the tourist visa twice for 30 days and no more. Now it all depends on the person, the PSB and luck. You can try asking the PSB, but what they will tell you now, might not be what they tell you when you apply. Tourist visa extensions in China are not really a very good option anymore.
