guestABC	Going to the police in Tianjin to register residence has been unfruitful. I have gone to two police stations. The residence in which I am staying registered me according to their own system, but they did not put a stamp on the form as the police do when they do, and there were no photocopies of the passport taken. They said I needed to register with the police too. Going to a hotel to avoid disastrous late registration charges did not produce anything either, with the police saying they did not do that, perhaps indicating that the hotel did it. Is the short form gotten from the hotel all that is needed even if they don't make copies of your passport. Does it have to have a stamp on it? It seems that if you have the form, you could fill it out yourself, as there is no place they have to sign. What is the validation process for hotel registration forms? How do you avoid the late registration fees and extend your visa in Tianjin. I have heard that Tianjin does not extend tourist visas.
