guestBondy	Hi Guys I was wondering if it is possible to buy a car in china (not in Beijing as I understand that there is a license plate lottery there) and drive it north into Mongolia. My Plan is to head across Mongolia into Kyrgyzstan and down the Pamir Highway. all the way to England. I am from Australia if that makes a difference. And obviously the car would not be returning to china - its a one way trip! Cheers Bondy

It won't be so easy. It's possible that you can buy a car in a Chinese city. However, you need to get a Chinese driver license if you plan to drive inside China. Even you have a driver license, you need to join the tests for Chinese drivers. After getting the driver license, then you can take it with your passport, residence permit and passport to register a plate number at local traffic police station. Without this plate number, you can't drive it.

On the other hand, you need to get ready for your visas for entering the countries you plan to visit and understand what requirements are needed for bringing a car into these countries.
