Hi there, this is my plan (so far) for January. I am flying in and out of Hong Kong (my first time to this part of the world). We (Wife & I) are UK/Latvia passport holders.
Plan to explore Hong Kong (no visa needed).
then go to Macau (I think we dont need a visa but there is a fee on arrival - anyone confirm?)
Then we were thinking of going to Zhuhai. Do I need a visa for this special zone or can I do the 72 hour thing?
If we did this, then go back to Hong Kong, we may have time to do a tour of Guangzhou, but can we still do the 72 hour thing or still able to obtain a visa through the tour group even though we have already gone into Zhuhai? This I would need advice on.
Another crazy idea is, but probably won't do it but handy to know, is to get a flight to Hainan Island. Is this a visa-free zone and are we able to travel there on our passports?
If anyone can let us know, that would be fantastic.
Thank you
Danik and Olga

1. You needn't apply one for Macau and pay the fee. The fee is collected for those who are required to apply for the entry permits when they arrive. For you two, you can enter with your passports.
2. Actually Zhuhai provide three-day VOA for foreigners. You have no problem to get it. However, I am not sure if your wife can apply successfully. In addition, you need to pay CNY 469 for this VOA. People from other countries just pay CNY 168.
3. If you plan to visit Guangzhou again, then you should apply for a valid visa in advance. You can travel to Guangzhou with your three-day VOA because the VOA just allows you to stay within Zhuhai.
4. For Hainan trip, I suggest you two apply for valid visas in advance.
In a word, you just need to apply a valid Chinese visa in advance. Usually, it's valid for 3 months and has 30 days duration of stay. I think 30 days is enough for you visit Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Hainan.
