guest03252 I am going to china on an invitation from my former student. He gave me an invitation and he will pay for the duration of the trip when in China as also stated in the invitation. Do I need to present " show money" and If I do need to, more or less how much is acceptable?

I think invitation letter is ok. If he burdens the cost, then he should state this clearly in the invitation letter. Then you needn't provide the "show money" for your application.
