I am an Indian from kolkata and currently working in Shanghai.

I need guidance on how to get the Single Status Certificate?

I understand that I need to get a letter from the pastor and get it attested at the Regional Attestation Office. Since I am working in China can I get the apostilles from Indian and Chinese embassy in Shanghai? Or do I need to do it from India itself?

Alternatively, should the single status certificate issued from India itself?

Also any idea what is the validity of the Single Status Certificate?

Appreciate your inputs.

Regards,

GUEST6889 The usual process is that you got your single status certificate, have it authorized by your Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then attest it at Chinese embassy in your country. When you arrive in mainland, then you find a qualified translation company to have your certificate translated into Chinese and then go to local notary office to notarize them. Finally, you can use it together with your passport and valid visa to register your marriage at local civil office.

However, you are in mainland right now. I suggest you contact your embassy and consult if they can issue the single certificate. According to what I know, US embassy can do this for their citizens. If you can get the certificate from your embassy, then you can get married here. Otherwise, you need to get back to your country and follow the usual process to get the certificate.
