Chinese Visa for legally married /non chinese/same-gender couples

guest11161 Hi Everyone,

We are a legally married same-gender couple from Europe. My spouse received a job offer from one of the Chinese Universities to work there. /Shanghai area/. I do not have any job offer yet. I have no idea how or what kind of visa could give me the possibility to legally reside in China with him. A tourist visa / L type/ is obviously not an option. Both the S1 and S2 requires a letter of invitation from your family member who is already in China, and in addition to that you need to state and prove your family connection to that person. Since China does not recognize any form of same-gender relationships, what does it help? As far as I know it is possible to obtain a dependent visa for same-gender couples BUT only in Beijing. So I am totally confused and I would really appreciate if someone could give a good advice. Thanks so much to all of you who might answer.

GUEST04154 Well, I have encountered people in such case before. They finally obtain a one-year multiple-entry L visa and do the visa run a lot. It seems that there is no other option if you don't want to study or work in China. I feel sorry but this is the real case.
