Can anyone make sense of this phrase (in the image)?

GUEST40882 Alamo, I can read some of the characters, but did you write the last word wrong? I can't read it. The formers read as Bao Guo Di 18, Bao Guo mean to do something good for the country. Di 18 mean No. 18.

From other sources, I have been told the meaning is something like, "For the national good. Number 8."

The antique is an unlicensed copy of a Mauser pistol, so my non-expert guess is these characters replace the original German lettering with an appropriately patriotic "slogan".
