Can I apply for a student visa in China, whilst being in China?

guestMees Hello, I am currently on a Tourist Visa and found out that I really want to learn Chinese.
I am able to receive an Invitation Letter from the school I would be studying, but they told me I have to get out of China. I was wondering if there was a possibility to not leave China.

Perhaps it's possible to change the L visa to a student X visa without leaving China, but you need to visit the local PSB and see whether this is feasible. In addition, some school may be capable of doing this for their students.
