Arriving Shanghai 4 days before cruise- enough time for Beijing?

guest13099 We are arriving Shanghai at 5pm 5/30 and will take a cruise from Baoshan on 6/4 morning. Is there enough time and what is the best way to go to Beijing to see the Forbidden City and Great Wall? Any suggestions on itinerary, mode of transport, Beijing tour, etc would be appreciated.

If Beijing is unrealistic, please recommend if there are sis trips from Shanghai we should consider.

Hi Guest13099, I think you have enough time to visit Beijing. Upon arrival at Shanghai, you can sleep in a hotel for a rest and take a stroll around to see a little bit of the city. Then you can take a G-lettered bullet train from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to Beijing South Rail Station in the next day. It takes nearly six hours on the train. After you arrive at Beijing, you can go to some downtown scenic sights, like Wangfujing Street and nearby parks. In the following day, get up early to see the flag-raising ceremony on Tiananmen Square and from there to go to the neighboring Forbidden City. On Day 3, go and visit the Great Wall. As it's not convient to go there by public transport, you had better rent a car or join in a tour group organized by a travel agency.
