Is the transit time in Urumqi only 2 hours? (with a 24 hour TWOV)

guest41167	I am planning to travel from Australia to Central Asia, transitting through Guangzhou and Urumqi within 24 hours thereby obtaining the 24 hour transit without visa (TWOV). I have been informed that the maximum time you are able to transit through Urumqi is 2 hours, otherwise a visa is required. Is this correct and if so would I require Visa G? Alternately, if my transit time is going to be over 24 hours from arrival and departure of mainland China, then would I still need the Visa G? It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could confirm this. Many thanks.

GUEST40882	If your transit time is going to be over 24 hours from arrival and departure of mainland China, you will need the G visa. I heard that people can transit in Urumqi for two hours and they should leave the airport within 2 hours, but I'm not sure about it. You can call +86-0991-3800194 or 3801872 to confirm this.
