| Yes u can. we did it in 1 day. We left beijing at 7am, went to Qing Dongling first .. beware, the road to Dongling is not well restored, our poor driver was trying is best to avoid the rocks .. sigh ... we arrived around 11am at the Dongling. At the entrance, we were hounded by a group of 5 women who claimed they were tour guides and claimed they sold the tickets - our driver ignored them, and drove all the way in. Finally, we went to where Cixi was buried - u can buy the tickets near the individual tomb sites. From Cixi's tomb, u can walk to see Kangxi's one which is the most grand one -- its an underground tomb. Its a beautiful if not, a very majestic feel to this place. Look out for the entrance into Dongling, u will see the marble status of horses, camels, "officlas" .... its like they are receiving you. If u can ignore those harrassing "tour agents" - it is quite an awesome sight. From there --- your driver will proceed to Mutianyu. We went to Huang Ya Guan ...... by the time we reached outskirts of Beijing was 4pm. Be prepared - bring your thermal flash with coffee or tea. And pack some bread or granola bars. Its now winter, so u will not see many food stalls around. Enjoy! ... we know we did. |
