My question is, when is the normal time for cancelling the FEC (foreign expert certificate)?

So, my residency permit and contract is up June 30th, and it's mid-May.

I've found a new job, and want to renew the visa.

My current employer says they don't normally start the cancellation process until about one month before expiry. So, if I start June 1st, and IF it finishes in 5 business days, that only leaves me with 10 business days for my future employer to get the FEC, so they can apply for the new visa before the deadline (June 23rd, one week before expiry).

....so...just wondering if other people out there start the cancellation process earlier, or if there were any official resources I could point my current employer to. I can't seem to find any answers by searching online.

Thank you very much.

GUEST40882 Augurd, your current employer can start the cancellation process of your foreign expert certificate until one month before its expiry date. According to the regulations from the SAFEA (State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs), your new employer can apply for your new FEC within the 15 days after your work contract expires. So actually they have enough time to handle these affairs I think. During this time, your status is not overstaying. You can confirm this with the local SAFEA.
