Is Judaism still not recognised as a religion in Shanghai? What other restrictions are there on other religions or the activities involved with them?

Chinese Christians are not allowed to accept the Pope...no official connection to the Vatican is allowed.(because they accepted Taiwan as an independant country)
Tibetans are not allowed to accept the Dalai Lama...(well, more of political reasons)

But you can find many churches, mosques, temples....for all kinds of religions in China.

If you mean the Jewish religion, Im quite sure it is recognized. During WWII Shanghai was a place to escape from the Nazi persecution in Europe....(there were other countries that closed their border for refugees) But Shanghai was a place to escape.

Moses Synagogue
No 180 Changyang Rd.
Currently it is not a synagogue, just a museum. I took two Jewish people there. Can't worship there.
