I am currently in China on a residence permit visa that allows me to stay with multiple entries until July 31. I want to stay in China with my family friends until September 19, though. I will be going back to Los Angeles for a week (May 28-June 4) and thought I could use that time to apply for a 60 day L tourist visa in order to allow me to stay until September 19. When I re-enter China on June 4th will that mark my first entry on the L visa OR the residence permit that will still be applicable at that point? I sense that I may need to run to Hong Kong for a day when my 60 days is up, correct?
Thank you!

Hi, if your residence permit is not cancelled at that point, you can still use it to enter PRC. In this case, you don’t need to use the tourist L type that time. And after your residence permit expires, you can exit to HK and then re-enter by using your tourist L type to obtain another 60 days.
