CNIO Points: Join Date: Jun 26, 2016 Status: offline	Hello everyone. I have a big issue concerning my X1 Visa. I will study one year in China and accorded with my professor to start in October. Before that I will be on a 3 months Internship in Singapore so I requested my X1 Visa in my home country in June before leaving for Singapore. The problem is I didn't know about the validity of 3 months so now I have to enter China before 13th of September which is not possible. In the application I asked for 2 entries but they didn't want to give them to me. What can I do now? I guess there is no way to change the validity date or entries. Do I need to make a new Visa later in Singapore? Can I, as an Italian, request a Chinese visa in Singapore? Will it be easy to get another X1 Visa again? Please help me, this situation is making me go crazy!

Yes, there is no way to change the validity date of your visa. You only have two options, the first is to contact your school and see if you can enter before Sep. 13 and guarantee the school is open and will help you to get the residence permit. Another option is to apply for a new X visa in Singapore. It's possible to do that, but I can't assure you. Anyway, if possible, please follow the first option.

It takes a while to get a Residence Permit once you get to China--depending on where you are, it can take up to 3 weeks, and some of that time your passport will be out of your hands. You're in a bit of a mess. You really only seem to have two options:

1) Contact the school, tell them what has happened and there's a timing problem with your current X expiring before you get to China, and ask them if they can re-issue the paperwork with permission to have you apply in Singapore. You're obviously going to have to pay again for a new X, and the Chinese Embassy in Singapore will raise their eyebrows so you'll have to tell them what's happened.

2) Cut your internship in Singapore short and get to China before Sept 13. You'll have to decide is this is going to have long-term repercussions for you with this internship company. If not, then this is the option I'd take.
