traveling as a dual citizen Chinese/American passports
Jul 20, 2016 08:08
guest17113 My daughter lives in China. She has both an American and a Chinese passport. The U.S. will not issue her a visa as she is an American citizen. How can she travel to America to visit the other half of her family? At the airport, will the customs agent want to see our airline ticket as well as our passport? If so, they will ask where her American visa is? What will we say? If we DO get by the customs agent...and we show the airlines her American passport in place of her visa will they inform the government of the dual passport?

The US allows dual citizenship, China doesn't. If China knows it will revoke your daughter's Chinese citizenship and passport, so don't let them know. Get a visa for the US in the Chinese passport or the Chinese authorities will not let you board the plane. Once you arrive in the US use the US passport to enter the US (IT IS IMPORTANT TO USE THE US PASSPORT TO ENTER AND LEAVE THE US). Use the Chinese passport with the American visa to leave and enter China.
