hey has anyone been to the south west region of China? I am looking for recommendations on how long to stay in each place.

Firstly I am travelling via train from HK to Guilin and maybe spend around 3-4 days there and Yangshou. Then from there I want to visit Yunnan provence. taking in Dali, Li jiang and Shangri La, Tiger leaping Gorge. Anywhere else in that region worth visiting? Also have you travelled in this area by train? Then I will head back towards HK.

I have around 15 days in total, so think/hope I have enough time.

Any thoughts, suggestions etc would be great. cheers in advance. smile

GUEST04154 Jeffy, I advise you to follow the itinerary below to explore Yunnan:
Day 1: After arrival in Kunming, go to Yunnan Nationalities Village or the nearby Dianchi Lake.
Day 2: Visit the Stone Forest.
Day 3: Go to Dali. Visit Cangshan Mountain, Erhai Lake and the Three White Pagodas.
Day 4: Go to Lijiang. Visit Shuhe Ancient Town in the afternoon.
Day 5: Go to Shangri La and Tiger leaping Gorge.
Day 6: Go to Pudacuo National Forest Park.
Day 7: Visit Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Day 8: Go to Wild Elephant Valley.
Day 9: Visit Xishuangbanna Virgin Forest Park.
Day 10: go back to Kunming and have a short tour there.

It's not convenient to tour by train there. You can take long distance buses or join a tour group.
