Do I qualify for a 72 hour visa

ALIALV Points: Join Date: Sep 26, 2016 Status: offline	I will be flying from LAX to Hong Kong with a 6 hour layover before flying to PEK. I plan on spending 2 days in Bejing on a side trip. From PEK I will be flying to Bangkok for 3 more days. From Bangkok I fly to Hong Kong for 2 days and then fly home to LAX. I was told that I do not need a visa if I fly from Bejing to a third region. My only question, is I have a 6 hour layover in Hong Kong. Do I have to stay in the airport at Hong Kong as I was hoping to take a 4 hour tour in Hong Kong before meeting my connection to PEK? My layover in Hong Kong is 6 hours and would like to enjoy a quick 4 hour close by tour in Hong Kong. So hopefully I do not lose my free 72 hours via in PEK.
