Kunming is a sunny city. It has a mild climate. Flowers can grow any time of the year. There is warm sunshine in the four seasons. The air is fresh every day. Flowers are blooming everywhere and decorating the city. Every year, 6 billion fresh cut flowers are exported from Kunming to the world. The area of the Dianchi wetland reaches 50,000 MUs, forming a hundred-kilometer length lakeshore. In the last three decades, black-headed gulls from Siberia kept on visiting Kunming in every winter, telling a beautiful story of the harmonious coexistence between human being and nature.
Kunming is a beautiful city. It’s an “Outstanding Tourism City of China”, with a dozen of renowned scenic spots, such as the Stone Forest(a World Natural Heritage and Geological Park), Qiongjie Temple(The Treasury of Oriental Sculptural Art), Jiaozi Snow Mountain(the First Mountain of Central Yunnan), the magnificent Dragon Gate on the Western Mountain and the colorful red land of Dongchuan. These rich natural resources and grand landscapes make Kunming an unforgettable city.
Kunming is a city of talents. It has rich ethnic cultures and historical heritages. The ancient Dian culture originated from here. Zheng He, a great navigator in Chinese history, started his journey from Kunming. Nie Er, the writer and composer of the national anthem, grew up here. A couple of generals used to study in Yunnan Military Academy. Elites were gathering at the Southwest Associated University during the Second World War. Kunming is also a platform of ethnic cultures, on which 26 ethnics are living peacefully. Diversified ethnic and folk cultures meet frontier cultures here. Unique city personality and cultural makings are formed.
Kunming is an open and inclusive city. It’s an important gateway of China to face South Asia, Southeast Asia and the world. Eight domestic railways converge here and five international railways exit China from here. The newly-opened high-speed railways of Jingkun, Hukun and Guangkun, have greatly shortened the space and time distance between Kunming and other cities. It only takes 12 hours to travel from Kunming to Beijing by train. Kunming Changshui International Airport, which ranks the fourth largest hub airport in China, owns 308 airlines to connect Kunming with the world. The airport receives over 43 million passengers every year.
