Why is C-Trip the ONLY travel service Laowai can use?

I tried to book a hotel using Qunar. I am an American. My Chinese is fair, my reading ability pretty darn good. That's not the problem.
The problem is that companies like Qunar WILL NOT LET YOU USE YOUR PASSPORT AS ID. In other words, outside of Ctrip, it's CHINESE ONLY.

Pretty damn racist if you ask me. :(

Atcually，Ctrip is the mother company of Qunar since October 2015.

Since your Chinese is good,then you can find the hotel information through Qunar,get the hotel contact details and call them to reserve your hotel room?
