Chongqing or other cities near the three gorges dam

JOANNA2 Points: Join Date: Apr 13, 2004 Status: offline	I am a Geography student planning to travel to China this summer to do my research and wondered if anyone knows of any highlights in the area apart from the boat cruise and if anyone knows anywhere cheap to stay?

Hi Joanna,

I'm making a trip to Chonqing and the region in a couple of
weeks, I'll be travleing upstream to Yichang, but not on a tourist
cruise. So should pick up some useful information for you. In the
meantime please mail me with anything you think useful.

There is an excellent recent map of the region: Illustrated Yangzi
River Map, published by Oyssey, odysseypublications.com. It's a
really comprehensive map and shows site of newer and older
towns along the river.

I'd be interested in hearing more about your trip and sharing any
information and advice
