The Forbidden City in Beijing China, also known as the Palace Museum, has announced that it will sell tickets online only instead of at the ticket windows since October 2017. The trial plan is going to be implemented from this July. From then on, the traditional ticket windows will be canceled gradually and only a service window kept for those who are in a rush or those who don’t have access to the internet or can’t pay online. The English version of the ticket booking app is now under developing. Some people take this as an innovative step of the Forbidden City to better control the visitor flow per day and alleviate the pressure of the long queues outside the palace gate. However, some think this is not friendly to seniors and foreigners as they may have obstacles in paying online. And ticket scalpers may take advantage of this policy. What’s more, once the limited 80,000 tickets per day are sold out, it’s no use to turn to the service window for help and the visitor will have to leave and book the ticket for another day.
