| Hello experts, We (2 x 46 year olds) are planning our first trip to China (September), so this is all very new to us. We normally plan our whole trip ourselves, never travel in group, rent a car and make our own trip (USA, Canada, Australia, NZ, ...). However, as I said this is our first time to China and we are really insecure as how far we should plan on f.e. having a guide everywhere, a driver, ...? We have been to Japan and over there, never had any form of private transportation. We always traveled by train, subway, buses, ... But as I understand, sometimes in China it is really better to book a guide and/or driver. However we are not really sure where this applies best? We do understand it is best to book our train tickets in advance, using some sort of booking website (f.e. travelchinaguide.com). Let me perhaps start by posting our first draft for our itinerary: Day 1: Brussels - Beijing Day 2: Beijing Day 3: Beijing Day 4: Beijing Day 5: Beijing - Datong (train) Day 6: Datong- Taiyuan Day 7: Taiyuan - Pingyao Day 8: Pingyao Day 9: Pingyao - Xian (bullet train) Day 10: Xian Day 11: Xian - Suzhou (night train) Day 12: Suzhou Day 13: Suzhou - Hangzhou Day 14: Hangzhou - Shanghai Day 15: Shanghai Day 16: Shanghai Day 17: Shanghai - Guilin (flight?) Day 18: Guilin Day 19: Guilin - Yangshuo Day 20: Yangshuo - Guangzhou (bullet train) Day 21: Guangzhou - Hong kong Day 22: Hong kong Day 23: Hong kong - Brussel I would be very grateful if you could: - review our drafted itinerary and comment on this (nothing is set or reserved yet) - comment on when or were to book tours/guides/drivers whenever it is needed or advised (when f.e. you will receive more information than just visiting by yourself). As mentioned, if at all possible we like to travel by ourselves, but we do recognize it sometimes it is recommended otherwise. |

| Your Itinerary is perfectly planned, but one doubt why don't you include Macau also in your Itinerary so that you can cover maximum places in China. |
