72 hour visa US to Shanghai back to US

guestSkip I had a ticket from US to Shanghai for a stay in Shanghai of 2 days. I was to leave out of Shanghai back to US. The airline would not let me board flight to Shanghai without a preapproved visa. I have done this very trip to Shanghai and Beijing multiple times in the past year and entered China with mom problems, filled out paper work and was granted the 72 hour visa. Has something changed??
